Understanding Performance Ratings

Network Diagnostics provides clear performance ratings to help you quickly assess the quality of your connection. These ratings are based on response time, packet loss, and an overall connection grade.

Response Time Ratings #

  • Excellent (< 20ms): Perfect for local or nearby servers.
  • Good (20–50ms): Normal for most websites.
  • Fair (50–100ms): Acceptable for distant servers.
  • Poor (100–200ms): May feel sluggish during browsing or streaming.
  • Bad (> 200ms): Noticeable delays, often problematic for real-time applications.

Packet Loss Ratings #

  • Perfect (0%): Ideal connection with no dropped packets.
  • Excellent (< 1%): Very reliable, minimal issues.
  • Good (1–3%): Occasional dropped packets, usually not disruptive.
  • Fair (3–5%): Minor issues that may cause noticeable problems.
  • Poor (5–10%): Connection problems likely, especially for streaming or gaming.
  • Bad (> 10%): Significant issues, unstable connection.

Connection Quality Grades #

  • A: Excellent connection (< 30ms average, 0% loss).
  • B: Good connection (< 50ms average, < 1% loss).
  • C: Fair connection (< 100ms average, < 3% loss).
  • D: Poor connection (< 200ms average, < 5% loss).
  • F: Bad connection (> 200ms average or > 5% loss).

These ratings give you a quick snapshot of connection health, making it easier to identify whether issues are local, ISP-related, or tied to the destination server.
