SiteLoadTester 1.4.0: Meet Site Tech Inspector
Today we’re releasing SiteLoadTester 1.4.0, and it comes with a major new capability: Site Tech Inspector — a fast, developer‑friendly way to understand what any public website is built with.
If you work with client sites, audits, migrations, or inherited projects, this update will save you real prep time.
Meet Site Tech Inspector
Site Tech Inspector scans any public URL and reveals the site’s visible technology stack — no dev tools, no manual source digging, no juggling multiple services.
It’s built for developers, freelancers, agencies, and technical consultants who need quick, reliable context before a call, audit, or handoff.
One thing to note: Site Tech Inspector reads only what a website makes publicly visible — the same information any browser sees when loading a page. It does not have access to server files, databases, or admin panels.
What does it scan?
The scanner detects key technical signals, including:
- CMS / platform
- Server software
- PHP version (when exposed)
- CDN usage
- SSL status
- JavaScript frameworks
- Analytics tools
Supported CMS detection includes:
- WordPress
- Shopify
- Joomla
- Magento
- Drupal
- Wix
- Squarespace
- Webflow
If no CMS is detected, you still get a full breakdown of the visible stack.
Deep WordPress Scanning
For WordPress sites, Site Tech Inspector goes far beyond basic detection. It can identify:
- WordPress version (when publicly visible)
- Active theme
- Publicly visible plugins
- Plugin versions (when exposed in asset URLs)
This makes it dramatically easier to:
- Estimate migration complexity
- Spot outdated components
- Prepare for client work
- Understand a site before touching anything
Built‑in Vulnerability Checks
When scanning WordPress sites, Site Tech Inspector can check detected versions against the WPVulnerabilities database.
Results are grouped clearly:
- Critical issues
- Medium‑severity issues
- Components with no known vulnerabilities
- Cases where versions are hidden or unavailable
Each entry includes CVE references and update guidance when available.
Better Scan Workflow & Visibility
This release also improves the scanning experience:
- Progressive scan loading with step‑by‑step progress
- Automatic retry logic when a site blocks automated requests
- Per‑domain permission confirmation before vulnerability checks
- Manual save‑to‑history support
History entries now clearly show:
- The scanned URL
- The date and time of the scan
This metadata appears at the top of both new and restored scans.
History & Reporting Improvements
A few workflow upgrades make Site Tech Inspector easier to use day‑to‑day:
- Saved scans persist between sessions
- Clicking a history item restores the full result
- Restored scans show when they were originally checked
- Security reports can be exported as PDF
We also removed an out‑of‑scope spreadsheet export path to keep reporting focused. PDF is the supported export format for Site Tech Inspector security reports.
Why We Built It?
Site discovery is still surprisingly manual.
If you’ve ever been handed a URL before a kickoff and needed to quickly answer:
- Is this WordPress or Shopify
- What plugins are visible
- Is Cloudflare in front of it
- Does it look outdated
- Are there any publicly identifiable security risks
…you know how much time that initial context gathering takes.
Site Tech Inspector brings that workflow directly into SiteLoadTester so you can move from URL → insight much faster.
Important notes
Site Tech Inspector performs passive inspection of public websites. It does not modify the target site, and vulnerability lookups require explicit per‑domain permission inside the app.
As always, version‑based vulnerability detection depends on what the site exposes publicly. Some sites hide version details well, so results should be treated as a practical first pass — not a replacement for direct system access or a full security review.
Available Now
Site Tech Inspector is included in SiteLoadTester 1.4.0 and available now in the app sidebar.
If you work with client websites, audits, migrations, or inherited projects, this release will make your prep work significantly faster and more reliable.
